What do you mean "happiness guaranteed"?

We want every guest to go home happy and to make sure that happens we will do everything we can to "fix" your sign before you leave.  If you get home and it still isn't just right, feel free to bring it back to the shop and we will work with you to change the paint, stain, or even the design to make it perfect for you.

What should I expect when I come to a workshop?

To have a great time! Ok, so I know that’s not exactly what you were asking.  Here’s the run down.  When you arrive all of your supplies will be waiting at your seat.  Our fun and energetic staff will guide you through the process of building, staining, and painting your custom wood sign.  This will include distressing, sanding, assembling the boards, and choosing stain and paint colors.  When finished you will have a beautiful, rustic wood sign to hang in your home or give as a gift. And the best part is YOU made it!

 

Are there any risks involved with your woodworking workshops?

Sure, as with most things that are worth it.  During our workshops we use drills, hammers, mallets, nail guns, sand paper, paint, stains, and other things that could ruin your day, so precautions need to be taken.  If you have a condition that will increase your likeliness of experiencing injuries or breathing issues, please ask us ahead of time if a workshop is right for you. While the paint and stain we use can be cleaned with water it is possible to permanently stain clothing and other items.  So please dress appropriately.  Stain, paint, saw dust and modge-podge are always being passed around in a workshop so there is always the possibility for spillage. 

 

Do you offer refunds?

Due to the custom nature of our workshops, registration fees are non-refundable.  Registration cancellations made at least 48 hours in advance of a workshop will be granted a class credit for a future workshop.

 

In the rare case that a workshop is cancelled due to insufficient enrollment we will notify you as soon as possible.  And your registration will be credited toward any future workshop.

Do I have to pick my project ahead of time?

All of our workshops require pre-registration so that we can have adequate time to prep and customize your material.  Project selection and customization information for your project is required at the time of booking. Please be sure to double-check your spelling and information to ensure your project stencil and materials will be ready for you at the start of the workshop.

 

How do I make sure I am seated with my friends?

If you are coming with a group of friends, please list who you would like to be seated next to in the ‘comments section’ of the reservation form.

 

Can I bring my own food, drinks, (wine)?

Yes, please do!  We’ll provide all the materials for the workshop.  Please BYOB, you can also bring snacks, other drinks, etc. to enjoy while you create.

Do I need to be artistic or crafty to take a Workshop?

Nope, not even a little!  Our workshops provide an easy to follow, instructor-led class, in a fun low-pressure atmosphere. We believe everyone is creative, so just bring a willingness to learn and you will have a great time creating your custom wood sign that you’ll want to show off in your home.

 

How long does a Workshop last?

We plan for about 2-3 hours of fun and creativity at our workshops.  However sometimes our workshops are finished early and sometimes when our guests are chatty we take a wee bit longer!

 

Do I need to tell you in advance what colors and stain I want to use?

No!  The fun part of our workshops is your ability to customize your project especially the stain and paint colors. We have samples of everything to help you decide on the best look for your piece.  And with a wide variety of stain choices, paint colors and painting techniques your piece will be completely unique and custom, hence, custom crafts by YOU!

 

Is there an age requirement to attend a workshop?

Due to the tools used, stain, paint, and other potentially unpleasant cleaning situations, infants and children under the age of 16 are not permitted on the premises while workshops are being held. If a participant brings an infant or child, they will be asked to rebook for a different workshop when they can attend ‘child’ free and enjoy the experience fully.

Do you use environmentally safe products?

Yes! We use PureColor water-based stain.  The 10 beautiful penetrating colors are odorless, non-toxic, and easy to clean.  Our rainbow of 48 paint colors come in BEHR Premium Plus, a No VOC, low odor interior paint.

Do you allow custom design requests?

Yes, we love new ideas!  Currently we are building our design selection but there’s always room for more.  Please contact us with your idea at diy@customcraftsbyyou.com and it just might end up in our project gallery! 

 

Does my finished sign need to look just like the photo on your gallery?

No! Every workshop is a chance to create something new and visually stunning.  The fun part of our workshops is your ability to customize your project especially stain and paint color combinations.

 

I see you request who I’d like to sit by when I register—are these requests guaranteed?

We will do our best but our tables only seat six so if you want to sit next to 10 of your closest friends we will need to split into multiple tables.
